Advent

A few weeks ago a rather spectacular red box arrived from family in Switzerland, the contents of which was a massive advent calendar lovingly put together so I would have some excitement in the lead up to Christmas... and today was day 1! Each day has a christmas decoration or small present, and this of course compelled me to go and buy a small Christmas tree to house the ornaments. Its from experience that I can now advise you not to get a $10 (£4) tree, as it is the most malnourished and bedraggled thing I've ever seen. But it is up in all its humble glory, and with its one ornament, is attempting to make my room look more festive. I would take a photo, but I think its more fun for you to use your imagination.

The last few days in Wellington have been lush - gorgeous sunshine, and i've even bared my legs in the hope I might go off-white. I've tweaked the nativity play, attempted to rally up leaders, and been shopping for the kids books that are given out every year at Christmas. I'm going to be spending some of my time next year helping out with the social side of the Anglican church, which will be good fun too.
For the moment I am still at Ann and Melva's (not forgetting the cat) until after Christmas, when the plan is to move into a little flat under a church family's house in Miramar - its view happens to over look Peter Jackson's studios too! The bays around the Miramar peninsula are beautiful, one of the closest and nicest being Scorching Bay (see here too)

I have slowly been realising how beautiful Wellington is - the view as you drive into the city from the north is breathtaking, as you see the city laid out around the harbour. We really are blessed to be within a few minutes from the water - its pretty cold, but its clean and you can swim in it! (not that I'm feeling that brave!) More later.... xoxox
