Beach adventures...

The past few weeks were quite frustrating at work, as most of NZ is on holiday at the moment and so its been pretty quiet. I've realised how much I miss working in a large team of people, bouncing ideas off each other and the banter that comes with a group setting. I'm really not that interesting and get frustrated working by myself for so many hours! Hopefully that will all change as things pick up in the next few months...

I've had a fantastic weekend though! On Saturday car loads of us went up to Levin to celebrate Kate's birthday, so we had lunch at a park and then went to Waitarere beach for some fun in the sun. I went swimming in my first New Zealand sea and had one of the best days hanging out with friends and getting very salty and sandy! We then relaxed at a "bach" (holiday house) nearby, and came back in time to see the sun setting over the waters off the west coast.

That evening I was visited by Sam (a friend from Tockington camp days) and her two friends Bryony and Nicola who were passing through Wellington on their 6wk tour of the country. I played tourguide on Sunday as we drove all over the city and dropping in at the 'Chocolate Fish' in Scorching Bay to have a smoothie. It was great to see them, and they are now in the South Island continuing their adventure.

Today I am finishing some last minute things in the office and then driving up to Waikenae for
Summerwine. The camp starts on Friday, but the leaders go up early to set up and have some time of receiving before the troops arrive! I'm going to be in the Kidszone leading a group of 8,9&10 year old boys.... oh joy! I'm going to be camping with Sarah & Sarah, and it should be loads of fun...
Then back in Wellington for Tuesday night (to watch Charlie & the chocoalte factory with Katie!) and I'm off to Nelson for 5 days to see the Stubbs family. I can't wait - my first taste of the South Island this time around, and Nelson is meant to be beautiful!

Hello lovely,
Your place looks beautiful! And I must say that's a most attractive painting one spies on your shelf.
Glad you're well and settled at last. Was it painted like that already or was it the creative genius of Diana Langdon?
Love you muchly!!!!xxx
