Kaitoke and forest fun

After a long week, it was soooooo good to get out of the city yesterday and spend some time in the Kaitoke Regional Park. About half an hour out of Wellington, Kaitoke is gorgeous and lush – it was one of the many LOTR film sites. It has a great swing bridge, exceedingly tall trees and home to a big rock. I was joined on my adventure by Ben, Jakob and Sarah, andit was just so refreshing to do something completely different and go somewhere new! We had a wee picnic by an amazing watering hole, Jakob threw lots of stones, we played pooh sticks, and watched some courageous people swim.... the water was flippin cold! It was a great afternoon of exploring, laughs and beautiful scenery. Here are some photos.... (Jakob is as gorgeous as the scenery, so he's in most of them!)

Yay swing bridge!

It sure did swing!

Where's my dad gone?

Over the weekend we had a junior youth sleepover (oh the irony), and even though I escaped home to sleep in my own bed between the wee hours of 1am-6.30am, it was pretty crazy! We took the 12 kids to the Rec centre down the road for blading and skating, and had the whole centre to ourselves, with ramps and space to let off steam. I succeeded in not falling over, braving a little ramp (ooh I’m such a daredevil), and returning back to the hall with all kids and limbs in tact.

Apart from that, it was a pretty long and with work being quite full on and lots of commitments. A good week, but tiring. Things will hopefully calm down once Easter’s over, after our 3rd holiday club (ahoy there me harties – it’s a poiiiirate one!) is done and dusted. I'll leave you with a couple of my favourite things this week - the sunset from our flat, and Petone pier, with Wellington in the background.

Is it still going to be this beautiful if I come in June?

New Zealand is always beautiful. You just might not see it in light of the rain, cloud and freezing wind in June. But alas, it will still be beautiful.

June means that we could go to the Mountain! (Mt Doom from LOTR or Ruapehu to be exact) and see snow, and have fun..etc..etc
Jakob will also still be beautiful in June too.
ummm....and yes sorry to invite myself to your party.. :) But NZ in winter is awesome....just colder....and darker...etc...etc

Well, I live in England, and I've just survived a Washington winter, so I think I'll be okay with the cold and dark. I'm going to Fiji first for my sunshine! And anyway, there'll be a ray of ginger sunlight in my days, won't there, Miss Langdon?
