So, things here are good. Since my last post I have realised that the daffodils were buried 8cm too deep and are showing no signs of life. I live in hope. We’ve had some fun flat adventures out to the Lighthouse Cinema in Petone, a gorgeous arthouse cinema seating about 25, and some much needed retail therapy in the Hutt. Amanda has just come back from a weekend at her parent’s farm in Canterbury, and she brought back not only her delightful Beatie (her white Honda) but shed loads of COW! We had steak last night, and it was soooooooooo good. Just as well we’re carnivores. I wasn’t well last week, with some winter cold/flu thing, but am back to normal now.
Things at All Saints have been pretty full on, with the latest news being the announcement of our Vicar’s resignation last week. Paul and Dale are moving up to Tauranga to head up a parish there, and will finish in Wellington at the end of September. This can be an unsettling time for a church as we seek to find a replacement, but it’s also a really exciting time of change – which can be refreshing and good for a church. This will, however, mean that I’m the only full time member of staff at All Saints, and I’m yet to see how this will affect me personally.
The next few weeks look to be busy, with a couple of leadership conferences to go to and heaps of meetings. And then on Thursday 31st I fly down to Dunedin with Katie to spend Queen’s birthday weekend with the rest of the Elkin tribe. It’s going to be awesome! We get back on Tuesday, and Katherine arrives on Wednesday, so I’ve been having a lot of fun planning a week’s road trip around the North Island for the Earls Barton adventurers. It’s going to be so much fun. I have included the important Agrodome (sheeeeeeeeeep), lots of bubbling mud, glow-worms at Waitomo and some fun adventures in Auckland. Roaaaaaaaaadtrip!
