Excited about June

I'm having a serious post lunch low after a feast of curly fries with the girls this afternoon. The two Sarah's and I went out to Sweet Mama's to celebrate Teri's birthday (with Teri, I have to add. See, she's in the photo below).

Things have been really busy recently - we had a fun youth group girls night on Thursday, when I cooked dinner for them at my place, followed by movie and craft night in the hall. The church looked amazing for Pentecost over the weekend, with bright red and orange balloons and streamers, and Sunday was a real celebration. We have a retired vicar from Wanganui, John, for the 3 months that Paul is on sabbatical, and it's been a really great month so far. It's always refreshing having someone come in with new eyes and a fresh perspective on things that we're so used to.

Yesterday I went to an awesome Kids Ministry Conference in Karori, where they'd flown out a key speaker from the UK to do some teaching. I'd actually heard Mark speak on 2 different occasions with Newwine Kids in the UK before, but it was a really great time and was exactly what I needed. A very challenging day to get my heart and vision sorted. Exhausting too. But great.

And so I'm in the office for another 2 days and then I'm on holiday! I am sooooooo looking forward to having a break and getting out of Wellington for a bit. So, on Thursday evening I'm flying down to Dunedin, in the South Island, to spend the long weekend with the Elkins - highlights include the Cadbury World chocolate factory, penguins on the peninsula, exploring the city, trying to keep warm, and then 2 nights at their bach in Naseby.

And then...Katherine arrives!!! And we're off on a Brown Rocket adventure around the North Island.Yay!
