South Island

On Thursday evening, Katie and I flew down to Dunedin to join the rest of the Elkin tribe for 5 days of South Island fun. They did a marvellous job showing me part of the country they love, and it was an awesome time away. We stayed with Katie’s parents in Dunedin for 3 nights and had 2 nights at their bach in a village called Naseby. In Dunedin we saw Royal Albatrosses and yellow eyed penguins in their native habitat on Otago Peninsula, and saw how they made chocolate buttons at the Cadbury factory :o)

And then in Naseby, on the Maniototo plain, 2000ft above sea level, we sat by the fire, played games, went for walks in the forests, explored old mines, read lots and sat in the hot tub under the stars at night. Awesome times.

I'm back in Wellington for the day, waiting for Katherine to arrive at Wellington airport in a couple of hours... I'm SO excited! We head off on our North Island adventure tomorrow...
