North Island

I've been back in Welly for over a week now, and forgot to post some photos of my North Island adventure with Katherine... so here are the highlights of our trip in the Brown Rocket to Taupo, Rotorua, Auckland and Waitomo. It was a great week, exhausting though!

Katherine in Wellington

Sulphur crystal lakes at Waiotapu Thermal reserve (very exciting for a geographer!!)

Bubbling mud

Whakarewarewa

Meeting the locals in Whaka (after I had to join in the dance)

Meeting little miss Amélie Johnson for the first time

Red wine in Waitomo. Oh, and there were glow worms too.

Work is good, busy as we come to the end of term 2. But today is the longest day of the year, so summer is officially on its way. I have become a great advocate of possum fur socks, and now bring a hot water bottle to work as well as fingerless gloves (mittens aren't great with a laptop, I've tried). The kids are cooking lunch for the whole church on Sunday - a feast of biblical proportions. I hope. I am slowly remembering I'm not Jamie Oliver. Am off home to drink red wine and start baking mini cupcakes. Its been a long day.
