Storms and time off

A nation in mourning

The discerning of you will not be making any comments on the unfortunate sporting events this weekend, as the All Blacks hopes of the world cup were squashed by some brutal French rugby players. New Zealand has declared a national week (if not year) of mourning, and even the current weather reflects the spirit of the country. This place is seriously patriotic!

Well, my last post was a single photo from our Jungle Jamboree holiday club. Holiday clubs are some of the busiest times of the year, and as amazing as they are, they tend to suck out all your energy. I was ill for a large part of it, which made the whole thing harder, however it was a wonderful week though with some amazing youth helping out, and a healthy number of kids each day. We had our own JJ Gorilla (Dave!), along with an awesome band with 3 guitarists, singers and drums! Great team all round :)

My personal highlight was at the family service on the Sunday, when so many kids came up to share with the church what God has shown them this week, such as “God showed me that even though I may not like someone, I still have to respect them”. Wow – we have so much to learn from kids!

This week has been wonderful break after all the crazyness. Monday was declared a mental health day, with dvds and hibernating, followed by a couple of days work to clear up the mess (lots of breaking bamboo in gale force winds) and some time off to slow down and recover. Down time is good. Its great to be able to catch up properly with friends, buy multiple pairs of shoes, get envisioned for term 4, as well as hanging out with Louie and a couple of his amazing dvds. The flat also made the most of the sun on Saturday to venture out the Bach cafe and feast on cake of joy. All good.
