Midwinter

I've spent most of today doing very little - recovering from the huge Midwinter Christmas Dinner we had at All Saints last night. A few months ago there was a great idea to invite the community to come and celebrate, well, Christmas! So we transformed the church into a banqueting hall, put up lights and a Christmas tree, and bused in some of the wildest oldies from the old folks home down the road. How do you cook for 150 people in the most dilapidated hall in the world? Well you don't. You get everyone to bring piping hot food at 5.45pm which went straight onto plates - not forgetting the lamb that was being nicely roasted outside! It was a huge success, and everyone seemed to have a fabulous time. Hopefully we'll be getting some great photos in the next few days, so I might do an update - thanks Ben for these ones :)

Last week we went to see Cinderella on Ice for Sarah's birthday, one of the most incredible shows I've ever seen. The 25-strong cast of Olympic, World, National and European Championship skaters that made up the Imperial Ice Stars lept, twirled and danced on the ice in the St James theatre - they even Irish danced! As it was Cinderella and needed to find the owner of the "ice-skate", some of the women skated around on one skate for several dances.

Other than that, life has been pretty busy, work is full on, and it seems like its been raining for months. This time last year my family were about to arrive for a crazy Langdon adventure around the North Island, so I'm feeling in need of a holiday... if anything, time out to escape the horizontal rain! Its been so wet the last couple of weeks I've only been out for a jog a couple of times - bring on spring :)
