I'm not sure if a kidsworker is meant to enjoy the school holidays as much as I have! All the clubs and programs have stopped for 2 weeks and its been sooooo nice to have space to think, plan, be creative, clear stuff, dream, prioritise and envision... without the normal routines to juggle. I guess what this week has given me is time - that's also the theme of a big family service/experience thing next week, and should involve some awesome multimedia that some guys are putting together. We have some incredibly gifted people at All Saints, and its been so encouraging to dream big and have people pick up projects and run with it. We kicked off the holidays with a huge "Feast" - where like last year, the kids cooked lunch for the church. Over 100 people came and it was a fabulous afternoon.
It's also been fantastic having the Johnson family in town - Rich, Kath and Amelie have been down in Wellington for 5 days having a mix of work and holiday. Rich spoke at Blueprint last night, was challenging and inspiring as ever. The clear crisp winter days have meant that they've been able to enjoy the waterfront, exploring the city and its parks, Te Papa and sampling more of the legendary coffee. Its such a wonderful city to walk around, has a real heart and vibe. Great friends, great city - a perfect combination.
