Crazy weekend

The last 5 days have been completely crazy but a lot of fun! The new hall plans were unveiled on Wednesday evening and I'm pretty impressed with how they have evolved since sitting down with the architects a few months ago. They floated the possibility of the new hall being done by Easter 2010, but we'll hold that lightly! We also kicked off our Youth Alpha course on Thursday evening and we're set for a fun 12 weeks, including a camp in October.

This weekend has been awesome, kicking it all off with one of the best night's I've had in years. We danced the night away celebrating Sam's birthday and Mason's farewell with the crew from Blueprint in a small flat in Mt Cook. Most of us were at the Soul Act!ve day on Saturday too, so there were quite a few of us looking tired from... well.. dancing.

Soul Survivor is such a great organisation and have a real heart for seeing kids model faith in action. I took along four from our youth group and we soaked up inspiring talks, worship and time with some of the top kiwi youth ministry gurus. The highlight was heading out to Belmont Park in Cannons Creek and planting some trees to replace some that were damaged in a fire a few years ago. The kids loved it, got stuck in, waved spades around, got muddy, embraced gorse with the love it deserves, and planted a squillion trees. I should be able to tell you what kind they were, but this is the person who planted her daffodils upside down, so we'll just say they were green ones.

Heading into the park

So after such a full on week, I'm spending some quality time with one of my favourite friends: a day off. Pancakes: mandatory. Getting dressed: optional. This week is going to be busy again leading up to spending a week in Auckland, flying up on Saturday afternoon and coming back the following Friday :)
