Waikanae Beach

On Monday I jumped into the Brown Bucket/Rocket and drove up the coast to the little town of Waikanae. Most of my memories there are linked to summer adventures, New Wine and swimming in the sea, so its a place I get to and can just feel relaxed. It had been ages since I'd been out of the city, so it was great to just escape, leaving the rain clouds behind for gloriously warm sun. I spent the day walking along the beach and hanging out in a cafe for a couple of hours, chewing on some NT Wright . As Ben put it: "wow, that was introverted of you." And obviously being introverted was what I needed! I came back amazingly refreshed and refuelled though, so want to plan in some more days like that!

I also caved in and bought an iPod shuffle on the way home to help soften the blow of losing my iPod Nano... I decided that going running with my laptop in the morning wasn't a good look, and am really not that motivated when the only sound I hear is that of my lungs about to cave in. It's easier to just crank up the music and keep thinking that Beijing could still be an possibility.

In other news, I joined the Macs on a visit to the Affordable Art show (anything under $5000 is affordable... obviously), which was pretty awesome - Joe had some great paintings displayed too! Last night I went to see the Dark Night with some of the Blueprint crew, and was impressed with how few girly gasps and squeals I managed to let slip in film. It had some awesome visual effects, but it was a pretty dark film! A great evening though. The next few weeks are really busy, and then I'm up in Dorkland for a whole week at the end of August :)

Beautiful photos! Stunning. I didn't know you had lost your ipod. Just like your brother and his phone. Sigh.

The day on the beach sounds perfect.
