We had the most amazing Youth Alpha weekend away with our youth group up in Waikanae and getting back to work has taken some getting used to! We headed up to El Rancho with 13 youf, 6 leaders - including Richard, the youth alpha guru from Auckland, and Huggies, our worship leader, and went hard out for 48hours.It was such a powerful and God filled weekend, a real foundation for this group of amazing girls and guys. Highlights included "Yoof's got talent" with some hilarious toilet comedy, a bit of country dancing and some classic Flight of the Conchords takes. - well done guys, you did us proud! The Mafia took down many a "townie" and I learnt that when you're a "doctor", its always a good idea to save yourself! It was also fun to drive the girls up there in a car that was 10 years younger than the rocket - it, like, even had a sound system. Oooooh. All in all, such a fabulous time, and we all came home exhausted, (some of us sunburnt) and in high spirits. Check out Richard's take on the weekend hereIt's back into the thick of things now though and this week has been good but pretty hard too. It was fun getting to hang out with a few of the Soul Survivor crew on Monday night as I've jumped onto the admin team, should be a laugh. Also had some interesting brushes with the media here and here - the article about Hataitai School is completely inaccurate and we have the full support and backing from the school... its been a long journey with the family in question and dissapointing to have it "fall" into the hands of the press in such a badly written piece of journalism. Oh well, in some way must mean that we're doing something right :)
