Windy Wellington

Well, they said Wellington was windy… but if I’m honest, I thought they were exaggerating a little... They weren’t!! It is crazy! I have spent most of my time here looking like something out of the bush and pondering whether a GI Jane hair cut is in order.

I flew into Wellington on Thursday after a wonderful week in Auckland, and can’t quite believe that I’m finally here. I’ve pretty much started my job heading up the children’s ministry at All Saints, and am even doing the kids slot in church tomorrow morning! Nothing like being thrown in the deep end! I'm excited about the potential there is for the kids ministry at church, and am looking forward to facing new challenges. They don't know "Our God is a great big God!".....!!

I was invited out to the cinema on Friday evening by a great bunch of girls to see Pride and Prejudice, and so far everyone seems really welcoming - they’ve heard about me coming for months it seems, which is quite an odd feeling! I am staying with in the vicarage over the weekend and moving a few doors down to housesit for some ladies for 3 weeks while they are in India– it’ll be great to have my own house! It means that I’ve just got some time to find a place to move into between now and then. It feels really strange not knowing the area yet and not feeling settled, but knowing it’s going to be home for a while. I'm slowly working out where everything is and building together a little map in my mind of Hataitai and Wellington.
Its slowly sinking in that I don't really have any close friends or family in a 400mile radius, so get in touch! and let me know how you're doing! I'm often on msn messenger and check my email regularly, so it'd be great to hear any news, if not musings on hurricane hair control.

I am sure we flew in at a 45 degree angle. It certainly was touch and go!
