Capital on the Quay

On Friday we had an awesome film night at Christian and Maggies, watching Memoirs of a Geisha on the BIG screen (ahem), enjoying being inside with the fire and not out in the cold! I decided that I'd had too many weekends of hiding from winter, so decided to make the most of a free saturday to check out the World Press Photo Exhibition at Shed 11 on the waterfront. There are some incredible images (check them out here) and I want to go back and spend some more time soaking them in. The exhibition travels to 40 countries, so make sure you catch it when its near you.

After Shed 11, I caught the little red cable car (ok, so its like a train) up to the Botanical Gardens. Its quite fun to catch it from the heart of the city and to be up the hill walking through the lush gardens within 10 mins! I think they'd be a lot better in summer, but I enjoyed
the stroll through the forest back down to Parliament, past the famous beehive below, and back home.

The Houses of Parliament - the beehive!

I also managed to catch up with Sarah FD, Pip and Nick over the weekend too, and then ventured out to watch Aeon Flux with the Johnsonville crew on Monday. I also managed to schedule in a meeting that involved walking around to the ledgendary Chocolate Fish yesterday - it was such a beautiful calm day, but we opted to sit inside as opposed to sitting by the beach front! This week has been busy, but good fun. Things to look forward to include a girls night on Friday, going to check out some wedding dresses for Sarah on Saturday and Natalie's party in the evening...

Ooh - Rather cool... Google Earth has updated its images of New Zealand (most importantly!) and the pictures of Wellington are amazing. I am SURE you can see the Brown Rocket near our house! How exciting! It is famous!
