We had an awesome week in the South Island, and have come back refreshed and relaxed. Sarah and I flew to Nelson, hired our silver bullet of a car, and beetled off to Kenepuru Sound in the Malborough Sounds. We were staying at a wonderful bach in Broughton Bay, with the most stunning view of the water and sheltered coves. The weather wasn't great on the Tuesday, but we made the most of the time inside reading, being creative and just hanging out.On Wednesday we went KAYAKING (yay!!!) which was awesome. You took a little path down from the house to a little shingle beach on the bay, and we ventured out on the water, and climbed around the rocks and beaches. I don't think Sarah was prepared for my joyful reaction when I discovered the kayak in the boat shed :o)

We then drove back to Nelson on Thursday and stayed with the Stubbs until Sunday. It was a shame the weather was pretty pants, but it would have been worse if we'd been in Wellington! We ventured up the coast to Motueka and Kaiteriteri on Friday too, explored Nelson, had some amazing ice-cream (see below!) on Saturday and flew home on Sunday.
Rob, Tamsin, Jonathan and Sarah deciding which of the 15 types of ice-cream they should start with...The weather back in Wellington has been awesome this week though, and it's been great having some time off to relax in the city. Its been really nice being able to meet friends for lunch and coffees being a lady of leisure! Tomorrow we're off on our adventure up the North Island for the U2 gig on Friday night. It takes about 8/9 hours to drive, so we're breaking up the journey into shorter chunks. Cookie and I are driving up in the Brown Rocket on Thursday evening to Taupo, to Auckland on Friday, partying there until Saturday afternoon and then stopping off in Taurangi for the Saturday night... before coming back home on Sunday. Yay! Should be awesome :o)
