Just a brief post to say that I'm back from Summer Wine up at Waikanae. We headed up there on Wednesday evening and spent all Thursday preparing and setting up for the start of camp on Friday afternoon. I was leading the Ignite Zone, the 5-8year olds kidzone (with 46 kids), and it was a crazy few days. The whole of kidzone was a lot better organised than last year, and our band was awesome. Its great to be around so many enthusiastic kids, and as well as running the zone, I had a really cute group of 5year old girls to hang out with too. Other guys from All Saints were doing the worship in the adultzone, running Cutting Edge (11-13yrs) and in Firewire (14yrs+). Its a real family camp, and there were heaps of families and friends of all ages from All Saints there.
Unfortunately a horrible stomach bug hit camp and 20+ leaders were ill, it was crazy... And then I was quarantined on Sunday.... it was grim. So that put an end to my kidswork for the weekend and I was completely out of it all Sunday, although I managed to escape confinement on Monday afternoon.... It was a complete role reversal of what happened at Waihi. So anyway, reports are that it was an awesome camp - amazing talks and music, great kids things, but I'm really glad to be back home.... lots of resting and sleeping. A couple of years ago they got flooded out, this year was disease! PS the pink t-shirt lived up to all expectations :o)
