I've just got back from a crazy long weekend up at Waihi Beach in the Coromandel. A whole bunch of us headed up on Thursday and Friday to help at a youth camp run by the Diocese of Waikato, where about 40 youth chose to have an awesome time hanging out on the beach, whilst getting serious about God and starting 2007 with the right priorties (See Wellington crew photo above - sorry SFD, don't know where your head went!)
It was a good weekend. We had a hilarious trip up to Turangi on the Thursday evening, where we found "alternative methods" to secure the new iPod speakers to the rocket dashboard, and spent a few hours with accompanied by some wine waiting for the Growcotts to arrive. Phono did some great worship and music up in Waihi, and the camp was really well run. Unfortunately Sarah J spent most of the Saturday and Sunday being really sick with a virus, so I had an interesting time looking after her.... Most of this was spent in our "quarantined" quarters, and not much sleep. Well, this NY was certainly... um... different! Highlights: great trip up there and laughs with Kate and Sarah in Turangi, Waihi beach, girls workshop, and a real encouragement seeing youth going for it and living out their faith. Awesome stuff. It's so good to be home though...Happy 2007!
