A new adventure in Brougham Street

Blue house in Brougham Street
(we live in the upstairs flat of the house)

We moved into our new little blue flat in Brougham street this weekend, with the help of many wonderful friends and the trusty Brown Rocket... it was a pretty exhausting weekend shifting things, carrying many boxes up and down stairs and cleaning the old and new place. But its gorgeous, and its going to be a wonderful home for the 3 of us. Its lovely and sunny and blue! I'm going to be living with Sarah, a creative art director and Amanda, a webdesigner. I've spent the past year living on the Miramar Peninsula with Dave, Katie, Joshua and Samuel Elkin, and will spend 2007 living near the centre of town with the girls.

I'm such a geographer... here's a map!

When you go "flatting" in New Zealand, its completely unfurnished (even get whiteware) and so its been somewhat of an adventure trying to find furniture when Air NZ wouldn't let me bring mine! I've got a bed from Lizzie and Logan, drawers from the Elkins, and bought some quality $12 (£4.50) shelves from the Warehouse for storage in my cupboard and as a bedside table. Oh, and I had a pretty ugly purple chair that I'd inherited from a friend when I arrived in NZ, and seeing as it was the only bit of furniture I had, as ugly as it is, it was coming with me!

The new flat is about a 15minute walk from church - great. However that would involve walking through the Mt Vic tunnel (Mt Vic being incoveniently located between work and home), an 800m exhaust fumed and congested part of SH1 heading out to the airport. I want to cut down driving, so will be looking for other routes and ways of getting over/through/round the hill!

Other news: I've gone slightly blonde. Eeek. Oh well, its different. Lets be honest, anything that makes me less ginger has to be a good thing! This week has been scorching, just beautiful. Yesterday was a public holiday, so I had fun and adventures at Titahi Beach with the Wrights. Oh, and the Elkins are taking me to Dunedin for Queen's Birthday weekend at the beginning of June - I'm really excited! I went to most major places on the South Island back in 2000, but I never made it to Dunedin. Other than that, work is pretty full on and things are pretty exciting at All Saints. But I'm about to head home... I've just had a wisdom tooth ripped out this morning (quite unexpectedly) and am going home to sleep....

Hey girl
just catching up on your blog. Happy belated birthday. Wot's all this rot about going blonde? Who wants to be an essex girl when everyone knows redheads are the hottest thing around. Be proud - ginger is the new black!.
