A picnic in Hastings

Kate and Chris Lam Sam

This weekend we all headed up to Hastings (um, north east.... far away) for Kate and Chris' wedding extravaganza. It was awesome - congratulations Mr and Mrs Lam Sam! The whole setting was a "Picnic wedding", with the ceremony taking place in a little paddock with the bridal party entering over a wee wooden bridge. Gorgeous. There was, yes, a little bit of rain, but that didn't dampen our fun, only our hair. There were 340 people there for the weekend, and heaps of family activities to do, such as archery, tractor rides, flying fox... etc. It felt like such a community celebration, and was a wonderful day spent celebrating with so many friends. The evening was great too, with a huge outdoor ceilidh.

After leaving at a slightly insane hour of 5am in the morning and discovering we could make it to Hastings in 3.5hours (unlike the predicted 4.5-5hrs)(what can I say, the Rocket has turbo boosters?!) we decided to travel back that same evening and make the most of having an "extra" day in Wellington and got back at 2am. So, 20 hours straight.... meant that Sunday was... slept through....

Is everyone you know getting married? You go to more weddings than anyone I've ever met.I think you must have magical powers, can you come and live near me so that I can leech some of them please?

You are in luck - my powers are so magical that you can get a super powerpack when you come in April (I nearly said NEXT MONTH, but that is too hasty). These powers would help you have friends who get married, not get hitched yourself, you understand. If they fail, just become friends with lots of crispies.
