Weekend in Otaki

Kapiti Island

This weekend we headed an hour north of Wellington to a lodge in Otaki to celebrate Teri’s 30th Birthday. I had decided to escape early on Friday afternoon, and the Brown rocket and I stopped off at Paraparaumu and sat in a beach café where I worked for a couple of hours (on my laptop, not behind the counter). It was great to have some time out of the office to think, plan and recharge. Walking along Otaki beach was nice too before heading inland at 5pm to meet Ben, Teri and Jakob at the lodge.

It was a really homely place, very easy to relax in and it was a great weekend to relax by the fire, play games and have some good talks with friends. On Saturday night we had a massive bbq, a ceilidh with crazy dancing, and a big game with funny “Teri-related” questions which ended in Christian getting slammed with a cream pie. Over the last couple of weeks Sarah, Cookie and I have been assembling a book for Teri, full of letter, notes, photos from friends and family members, so that was presented to her on Saturday evening too.

It was a really great weekend in all, time to chill out, get to know people more and really appreciate how loved Teri is by all the community here. I came back late Saturday night so I could be ready for a crazy day of baking bread with the kids at All Saints. Sundays have been going really well recently and its exciting to see new families being connected into the church.

Happy Birthday lovely lady!!

Hi Diana!
I've just heard you are looking at starting a mainly music at All Saints! We had our All Saints Mums morning tea today (we meet fridays fortnightly at my place) and all liked the idea of Mainly Music at our home church! We'll look forward to hearing more...
