5 days to Christmas

Christmas is most definately here, as is the summer weather that has finally arrived. The pohutakawa trees are in full bloom, New Zealand's Christmas tree, and I'm trying to resist that lazy summer temptation to switch off and relax until, well, I'm allowed to! On Monday I started my Christmas shopping for friends in NZ, I am such a slacker!

On Sunday we had our Family Christmas Celebration, a crazy afternoon of messy games, carols, an impromptu nativity and the launching of our kids art exhibition at church. It was a brilliant time and the nativity was sooo cute - Mary seemed a little uncertain about her role, and Henry the shepherd seemed slightly too small for his oversized outfit. My favourite part was the "Rudolf the red nose reindeer painting game" where 2 teams had to race each other painting pictures of Santa. All they could use were their noses, tomato sauce and whipped cream. It was fabulous!

Tomorrow is my last day at the Social Justice Commission, which means I'll be a full time kidsworker in the new year - an odd, but good, feeling. It's still a busy time at All Saints, with some talks to plan for the Christmas Eve and Christmas morning services, and some other holiday bits for the kids. But from 12pm on Christmas Day, I'll officially be on holiday... I can't wait. We're all off to the Waihi for Roadrave, a youth camp at the end of next week for New Years, and then there is some lazy time off to go on adventures in the brown rocket or just relax in the capital....

I am rubbish and have entirely failed to post your Christmas present. Okay, that's a lie, I was making you a present and have entirely failed to make your present. I am rubbish. It will arrive shortly after Christmas. Promise.

A sorry friend
